As a Service Mapping Officer, it is your responsibility to provide all the necessary details for the service. You will be prompted to input various pieces of information to describe the service accurately. The following descriptions will guide you through each category:
“Status” Field: Required Field |
When new services are created, they should be set as drafts. Once all of the data has been added in the default language, then set the status to Ready for Translation. Once you have done this, read the section below titled Translate. Once the translation in Transifex is finished, you can mark the article as published, which will push the data point to the website the next time the website synchronizes (which occurs at 1-hour intervals).

Different Status Options in Directus for Services: Draft: When a service is in the "Draft" status, it indicates that it is still being worked on and is not yet ready for publication or translation. The service is in the initial stage of creation, and it may not be visible to users on the Service Map. Ready for Translation: Once a service has been finalized and is ready to be translated into different languages, it can be marked as "Ready for Translation." This status signifies that the service content is complete and can be sent to a translation service like Transifex for localization OR for most projects, be translated in the native Directus translation interface. During this stage, the service is not yet available in languages other than the default language. Translated: After the service content has been translated into different languages, the status changes to "Translated." This indicates that the service is now available in multiple languages and can be accessed by users who prefer languages other than the default language. The translated versions are typically synchronized with the original content to ensure consistency. Published: Once the service has undergone the necessary reviews and approvals, it can be marked as "Published." This status signifies that the service is officially available on the Service Map and can be accessed by users. After your website regenerates itself (this is automatic every hour), published services are made visible to the public, and any updates or changes made to the service will reflect on the Service Map accordingly. If you turned on the “Physical Location” button it will show as both a map and list view, if you turned it off it will only show up as a list. Any services that you need to update since publication should be returned to draft if it has any critical inaccuracies while you are editing. Once you re-vetted the content it can be republished. Archived (Inactive): If a service becomes outdated, irrelevant, or no longer active, it can be archived. Archiving a service removes it from the active listings on the Service Map while preserving its data and history. Archived services are not visible to users unless specifically searched for or accessed through archived record. That said, archived services can be at any point republished. They are not deleted from the system.

“Country" Field: Required Field |
The "Country" field in Directus is used to specify the location of a service being provided. It is also associated with a coordinating instance that will route the service to a specific website and help this service show up on the corresponding website.

“Region" Field: Required Field |
Now, an SMO may either select the region from a static list as before, or more accurately, upon saving a service with an attached address or geolocation. This will be automatically filled. It is important to validate this automatically assigned data.

The "city" field in Directus is used to specify the location of a service being provided. It’s logic follows as the “region” field. An SMO may either select the city from a static list as before, or more accurately, upon saving a service with an attached address or geolocation. This will be automatically filled. "Provider" Field: Required Field |
To fill in the provider field, you must click on the field. It will then open a “many to one” field that pulls up the entries from the “Providers” collection. You should select from an existing provider as long as the provider is already there. To see if the provider is already available use the search bar to search the content by name. Please test multiple spellings to ensure the provider does not already exist. Our goal is to have 1 provider for 1 organization, so that we can pull reports on an entire organization to show all services by IRC all across the globe! The cleaner you make it, the more powerful this functionality is. We will regularly clean this but any duplications are creating work for the technology team. If there isn’t an existing provider for this service, you can follow the process in 4.4 How to Create a provider to make a new provider.

“Content” Field: Required Field |
The content field allows you to add your content across all available languages. This allows you to switch the “Name” and “Description” field content. You must select your language before editing the “Name” or “Description”. Based on this selection your content is stored differently. For example: an English selection will store in the database in a field entitled “en” where in Arabic selection will store in the database with a field entitled “ar”. If you do not select the language before you enter your content then you will have service mapping articles pointing to the wrong language on your website. It is the SMO’s responsibility to make sure that all the content they are translating is in the correct language. Any instance using Transifex should have their content automatically return back to their “content” field in the correct language.

"Name" Field: Required Field |
The "Name" field in Directus is used to enter the title or name of a service. It provides a brief and clear representation of the service. Best practice names are the name of the individual center.

“Description” Field: Required Field |
The "Description" field in Directus allows you to provide a detailed explanation or summary of a service. It offers a space to describe the purpose, features, and benefits of the service. Also, include its objectives, how it can be beneficial, and any unique features it offers. Do not add images into the description field. There is another place to add images. Ensure that the description is written in a clear and concise manner, making it easy for users to understand the service's value and relevance to their needs. Please utilize the H1, H2, H3 header options which will help readability and formatting of the connected sites.
