The worst thing a digital community liaison can do is to provide people with incorrect information. People trust Signpost and make huge life decisions based on the information we provide. It is not your job as a DCL to know the answer to every question, it is to make sure we are passing on correct information by asking the Signpost Editorial team.
Top Tips for Accuracy
- Make sure you are up to date with all Signpost information and the latest social media posts before you start moderating.
- Ensure you fully understand the users’ question before starting to answer. If you don’t start a discussion with the Editorial team.
- Often users will ask a question, where the answer is contained in a long article. Don’t just paste the article as a response. Instead, find the relevant bit of information contained within the blog post and post that as a direct answer to their question. Then link to the blog for more information. For example:
- If you are not 100% certain that your answer is correct ask the editorial team.
- If you have any doubt at all about any aspect of answering a question, speak to the Editorial team.
