The Facebook page must be run under Signpost Business Suite. The Humanitarian Content and Social Media Advisor from Signpost's global team will create your Facebook page and coordinate with the Signpost Tech team to integrate your Facebook page into Zendesk platforms.
In case there is any technical issue preventing the creation of a page, we may request to create a Facebook page, and then Signpost will claim the page ownership.

The Humanitarian Content and Social Media Advisor will reach out to you asking for some basic information to open your Facebook page:
- Name of the Page
- Profile and Cover photo
- User name (for example: refugee.info, infopalante.org, Julisha.Info )
- About Section: What is the page about? Tell about the services. Within 255 characters, including space (can be set later).
- Additional information: details of your services within 50,000 characters, including spaces (can be set later)
- Contact Phone (If available, can be set later)
- WhatsApp number (If available, can be set later)
- Email (if available, can be set later)
- Website (if available, can be set later)
- Location (Address, City, Postcode), if available but can be set later
Name & Username of the Facebook Page
The name of your Facebook Page should be reflective of the audience of the page. Some things to think about:
- What is your long-term goal for who this will or might, include?
- Will your name feel exclusionary for some groups? For example, “refugee” in some contexts is an important self-identifier. However, in other contexts, this might be a term with which people do not self-identify because they call themselves something else, they consider “refugee” to be used negatively against them, or for other reasons.
IMPORTANT: You can change your name once every seven days, but changing it at all should be considered very carefully. Once people start to be aware of your page, changing the name changes the brand. Additionally, Facebook will mark on your page the number of times that you changed your name. |
The username forms the last part of the URL. We recommend choosing one that will be easy to remember and clearly reflect the page's purpose. For example:
IMPORTANT: Be careful about the page user name, as you can only change it after 60 days. |
If Your Facebook Page is Already Created
Sometimes, it appears that we need to connect an already existing Facebook page with the Signpost business suite, especially when we are working with a partner organization. Signpost team members should be cautious when using existing Facebook pages. They should consider:
- The existing content themes may differ from what Signpost intends to produce.
- The existing audience might be different from the Signpost's intended audience.
- Sometimes it's challenging to add existing pages with the Signpost business suite due to technical issues ( e.g-authorization, connection with a different business suite, etc.).
IMPORTANT: If you don't see a significant benefit using existing social media pages, we strongly recommend creating a new one. |
